"Home is Where Your Heart Is" - wooden 3D painted wood picture, finished size 10"x10"
Kit
(unpainted wood pieces, 4 arms of frame, hanger for back, frame not assembled,
and picture to follow for painting -paints not included). Wooden Painting of White Heron, finished size 10" x 10"
Kit (includes plywood
base, arms of moulding for frame, picture of design to follow, paints not
included) DO IT YOURSELF: I started with a 1/4" piece of plywood, about 8" x 8", and put a base coat of dark brown paint, this will show through when you do a crackle finish. Then a coat of crackle medium (Home Depot or other paint store), and I used an ivory or antique white color for the top coat. I cheated, I had artist Bob sketch an outline of the bird on the board for me after the paint dried and then I filled in with paint and shading (I have taken 2 weekend classes in decorative painting, so I sort of learned how to "load" a brush and do shading) Again, I can get moulding scraps from Bob's shop, but it would be best to do the size of the painting in a standard size so you can buy a ready-made frame. It's fun and really not too hard to do!!
Completed Nutcracker $75 Kit $50.00 (includes sommelier, color picture painting pattern and instructions, paints) Shipping & Handling $8.00 (priority or parcel post, most economical) Made to order, I have to order unfinished pieces, then paint and finish, so could take 2-5 weeks, depending on how quickly I get order from supplier. DO IT YOURSELF: I bought the unpainted nutcracker at a local decorative painting store in St. Petersburg, "Fergie's" (I think it was $30-35). The kit had the felt jacket, wig, cloth towel, etc. I had the paints. I taped off side "stripes" on the pants legs and put a silver stripe down each outside leg, painted the face and hands flesh, painted the details on the face, painted the wine bottle and glued on the label, painted the shirt area white and basically, the rest black - pretty straightforward and easy. I gave it several coats of polyurethane (using a glossier one on the shoes). He's really a cutie!!
The Completed set was given as a gift, and the greenware was the only set they had. I haven't been able to find the same greenware - but could do the same or similar design in another style bowl.
Completed
Bag Lady - She hangs on our pantry door, near the back door, and collects
plastic grocery and newspaper bags, which you can pull out through the
elasticized opening at the bottom of her dress; the apron pockets are handy to
hold kitchen items. She's about 27" long and about 13" wide(when full
of bags!) Made to order in any color combinations or styles to match your
kitchen.
